Warfare, natural disasters, and personal persecution force millions of people around the world to leave their homes and seek refuge in foreign places. The refugee crisis is a global problem. According to the Council on Foreign Relations’ Global Conflict Tracker, there are over 25 active conflicts currently taking place around the world. These conflicts are forcing millions of families to relocate.

Moreover, the deteriorating global climate and the vilification of the ‘other’ adds to the magnitude of the refugee problem. These conflicts and catastrophic events that cause a group of people to relocate put the distressed population in a burdensome position, as they are forced to leave the lives they have built to start anew in unfamiliar places. This problem has consequences and unintended burdens affecting the host communities. Host communities are forced to abruptly share their infrastructure and social services which, in many cases, are not engineered to serve an added population. In other cases, differences in social values cause ethical complications to both the refugees and their host communities.

تجبر الحروب والكوارث الطبيعية والاضطهاد الشخصي ملايين الأشخاص حول العالم على ترك منازلهم والبحث عن ملاذ في بلاد الغربة . أزمة اللاجئين مشكلة عالمية، و وفقًا لمتتبع الصراع العالمي التابع لمجلس العلاقات الخارجية هناك أكثر من 25 صراعًا نشطًا يحدث حاليًا حول العالم وكل من هذه الصراعات تجبر ملايين العائلات على الانتقال واللجوء. علاوة على ذلك ، فإن المناخ العالمي المتدهور وتشويه سمعة "الآخر" يزيد من حجم مشكلة اللاجئين

إن النزاعات والأحداث الكارثية التي تتسبب في انتقال مجموعة من الناس خارج أماكن عيشهم  تضع السكان المنكوبين في موقف مرهق، حيث يضطرون إلى ترك الحياة التي بنوها لبدء حياتهم من جديد في أماكن غير مألوفة. هذه المشكلة لها عواقب وأعباء غير مقصودة تؤثر على المجتمعات المضيفة. حيث تضطر هذه المجتمعات المضيفة أن تشارك بنيتها التحتية وخدماتها الاجتماعية بشكل مفاجئ ، والتي في كثير من الحالات لم يتم تصميمها لخدمة عدد إضافي من السكان. في حالات أخرى الاختلافات في القيم الاجتماعية تؤدي إلى تعقيدات أخلاقية لكل من اللاجئين والمجتمعات المضيفة لهم
